Kristen Schaefer
Studio Director
Kristen grew up outside of Philadelphia, PA where she developed a love for dance at the young age of five. She started with a ballet/tap combo class and every year added another class to her schedule. Before her mother knew it, she was spending 20 hours a week in the dance studio growing her passion for dance. Kristen has had the opportunity to study multiple styles of dance including Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary and Acro.
Her love of dance grew as she began to enter to the competition circuit, and take classes at workshops across the United States learning under world reknown choreographers such as Mia Michaels, Ray Leaper, Frank Hatchett, and Finish Jhung. Living in the East Coast also afforded many opportunities to take classes at Famous Broadway Dance Center in New York. She also has also taken classes in Boston, Los Angeles, and South Carolina.
In addition to dancing competitively Kristen was also a Varsity Cheerleader in High School. Upon completing High School, Kristen was selected as a member of the World Famous Kilgore College Rangerettes where she was a member of the 62nd line. As a Rangerette Kristen was selected to be a part of their elite dance group the Swingsters, and was selected as an Officer her Sophomore year to lead the group. Some of her featured performance opporunities as a Rangerette include: The Cotton Bowl, Chicago’s Jingle Elf Parade, and the Indianapolis 500 to name a few. While at Kilgore Kristen also served as President and Secretary of the Dance Club, and held a dance scholarship in the dance department. During this time Kristen also worked with Starmaker Dance and Performance camps across the U.S. teaching and judging line and officer camps, as well as private camps.
After Kilgore, Kristen was accepted into Texas A&M Univeristy where she continued pursuing a dance degree. While at A&M Kristen was part of the EmSu Dance Company. In 2006 before finishing up her Minor Degree, Kristen was asked to be a featured performer for ACDFA in Utah.Soon after graduation Kristen was hired by KBTX in Bryan/College Station as a General Assignments TV News Reporter. Her work has been featured on CNN and MSNBC and earned her recognition from the Associated Press. As a reporter she covered everything from Health to Hurricanes and developed a passion for telling stories and engaging people in the news. Her dance/performance background served her well in LIVE television broadcasts. While working as a reporter Kristen also still taught dance and choreography at local high schools and drill teams.
After moving to the Humble/Kingwood area in 2010 Kristen soon opened up her Photography Studio, Nestalgia Photography, which has had a home on Main St in Humble since 2012. She began teaching at a local dance studio soon after that acting as Asst Director for the competition team. Kristen has gone on to work with several teams, and soloists. Many of her students have been High Score finalists, title winners, and has won choreography accolades across the state. But what Kristen values the most is that God has given her the passion to mentor dancers and get to know them individually year after year.
In June 2016 Kristen opened up Revolution Dance Center in Porter, Texas. Since she was a little girl Kristen dreamed of owning her own studio. God opened major doors for her to be able to find a spot, and establish a team of dancers join her in this exciting adventure. She can’t wait to see where God directs her path with the studio as we enter year four, season five. Kristen resides in Kingwood, Texas with her two sons and husband. She feels super blessed to get to do her two passions and call them her job! It truly is a calling from God she hopes to pass down to her students.
